Iran is a big country. It has a history as long as history itself. The first empire. The first civilization. Today, most of its people live in cosmopolitan cities. Many still live in villages or work along the shore of the Persian Gulf. Iran sits atop huge oil reserves. Currently, they are unable to sell it freely due to sanctions imposed upon them by the rest of the world to discourage their nuclear aspirations. After overthrowing the autocratic Shah, Iran has become today an Islamic Republic but once, it was Persia and home of Cyrus the Great.
