While negotiations proceed on limiting Iran’s capacity to enrich uranium to weapon’s grade, its first nuclear power plant is fully operational.The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is located in Iran 17 kilometres southeast of the city of Bushehr, between the fishing villages of Halileh and Bandargeh along the Persian Gulf.

It was bombed repeatedly during the Iran-Iraq War but was completed under contract with the Russian Ministry for Atomic Energy. Operational control was passed to Iran in a ceremony on September 23 of 2013.
